Zero-dimensional modelling as tool for reservoir water quality planning and management

چکیده

ABSTRACT Water quality models are often applied to support the definitions for water resources planning and management. This process requires appropriate data calibrate make required verification validation analysis. However, in some case studies, there is not enough run a complex model whatever system, being river or reservoir. In context of scarce data, search simple an alternative comprehend behavior system. this research, unsteady zero-dimensional (0D) was developed using synthetic series phosphorus concentrations Brazilian The results research were compared three-dimensional model, order verify if methodology can be simpler model. compatible (3D) show simplified numerical schemes important potential tools considered initial analysis dynamics reservoirs management purposes.

TwoLe: a software tool for planning and management of water reservoir networks

A software tool, which implements a Decision Support System (DSS) for management of water reservoirs, is presented. It is designed to be used both at the planning level, by water agencies, to generate management policies and release plans over various time horizons, and at the management level, by the decision makers, to take daily release decisions, also using the real-time information provide...

Uncertainty and risk in water quality modelling and management

The case is presented for increasing attention to the evaluation of uncertainty in water quality modelling practice, and for this evaluation to be extended to risk management applications. A framework for risk-based modelling of water quality is outlined and presented as a potentially valuable component of a broader risk assessment methodology. Technical considerations for the successful implem...

Modelling Water Quality for Water Distribution Systems

Maintaining water quality in distribution systems has become a prominent issue in the study of water networks. This thesis concentrates on disinfectant and particle counts as two important indicators of water quality. The models discussed in this work are based on data collected by the author. The experimental set-up and procedure are described and observations of particle counts, particle coun...

Water Quality Assessment of Dorudzan Reservoir(Shiraz) for Drinking and Irrigation Uses

Background and Purpose: Today, by increasing different pollutants, the continuous monitoring of surface waters is essential. Dorudzan Dam is one of the main sources of surface water in Fars Province, Iran; hence, the current study investigated the quality  of Dorudzan Reservoir for drinking and irrigation consumptions. Materials and Methods: In this study, various physicochemical parame...

Phytoplankton and water quality in a Mediterranean drinking-water reservoir (Marathonas Reservoir, Greece).

Phytoplankton and water quality of Marathonas drinking-water Reservoir were examined for the first time. During the study period (July-September 2007), phytoplankton composition was indicative of eutrophic conditions although phytoplankton biovolume was low (max. 2.7 mm³ l⁻¹). Phytoplankton was dominated by cyanobacteria and diatoms, whereas desmids and dinoflagellates contributed with lower bi...
